Husband and Wife Duo Joined Oribe Canales’ Team for the Trendsetting Fashion Show in Paris

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 22, 2010- Jack and Joelle Ray, owners of Raleigh’s award-winning Samuel Cole Salon, turned a dream into reality when they traveled to Paris to participate in Giorgio Armani’s couture Armani Privé show on July 6. Celebrity stylist Oribe Canales, who has styled the hair of Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, selected the pair to be part of his exclusive team of hair stylists for the fall collection’s show because of their expertise and vast knowledge of the hair industry.

“It is one of the highest honors in our industry to be part of the Armani show and we always enjoy working with Oribe who is an industry icon,” Joelle Ray said. “At Samuel Cole, we work hard to deliver a high-level of excellence to our clients. The high-energy couture show entertained guests that included celebrities, models and fashion critics from around the globe, such as actresses Megan Fox and Cate Blanchett. Behind the scenes, adrenaline was also pumping. As members of the stylist team, Jack and Joelle helped create sensational hair looks to balance Armani’s fall line. Models with thick, long blonde hair that looked natural and effortlessly beautiful strutted down the runway.

RALEIGH, N.C. – June 21, 2010 – Samuel Cole Salon, an award-winning salon in Raleigh, will feature world-renowned celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales on Monday, June 28. The visit will include afternoon demonstrations inspired by Oribe’s current work in the fashion and beauty editorial worlds exclusively with Samuel Cole stylists, followed by a reception for the salon’s staff and clients.

Oribe has been lauded as one of the world’s top hairstylists of all time. For more than 30 years, he has collaborated with fashion editors from Vogue, Elle and W; worked with makeup industry icons François Nars and Pat McGrath; and created runway looks for fashion designers including Gianni Versace and Karl Lagerfeld. June 16, 2010 (RALEIGH) – Fashion industry veteran, Rodney Robledo, brings creativity and experience to his new role at the award-winning Samuel Cole Salon. Known as a leading makeup artist and hair stylist in the bridal industry, Robledo is also a go-to stylist for industry photo shoots including spreads in Essence magazine and many others.

“Rodney’s expertise and experience in styling, makeup and photography make him an excellent fit for our salon. A native of Puerto Rico, Robledo began his career in advertising after completing his Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations. He enrolled in a Miami digital photography school and was quickly sought after by agencies, television and magazines that recognized his talent behind the camera. Samuel Cole Salon Supports Breast Cancer Awareness in the Rex Hospital Open "Pink on the Links"

May 21, 2010 (RALEIGH, NC) – Holding true to their continuing commitment to their community, Jack and Joelle Ray, owners of the award-winning Samuel Cole Salon and Salon Moxie in North Raleigh, donated their team’s time and talent to “Pink on the Links” Fashion Show. Pink on the Links is part of the Rex Hospital Open, a Nationwide TOUR golf tournament. In recognition of breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and survivorship, Nationwide TOUR players wore pink as part of their golf attire. It was a day of education and activities for everyone culminating in a reception and fashion show at the TPC at Wakefield Plantation clubhouse.

Breast cancer survivors were the stars of the evening as they modeled the latest fashions. Samuel Cole Salon stylists, Whitney Heath, Rodney Robledo, Robyn Murphy, Yvette Cannas, Carolyn Nord, Sara Beard and Nikki Galloni readied the models’ hair and makeup for their strut on the runway. Jack Ray spoke to the audience on why this cause is near and dear to his and Joelle’s hearts having both of their mothers affected by this disease. He also shared salon secrets on how to recreate that salon look at home.

“We were happy to join in the battle against Breast Cancer once again. It is a disease that affects so many people- it feels great to lend our support in efforts to raise awareness,” said Joelle Ray.

April 25-26, 2010 (Las Vegas, NV) – Jack and Joelle Ray, owners of the award-winning Samuel Cole Salon and Salon Moxie, along with five of their top stylists, Sara Beard, Yvette Cannas, Jess Duncan, Nikki Galloni, and Erin Shebaugh attended Oribe Backstage 2010. The two-day educational event held in Las Vegas was part of the Oribe Artistic Director Program and featured Oribe Canales in person.   Oribe is a wildly successful celebrity/editorial stylist whose clients include Lady Gaga, Penelope Cruz, and Jennifer Lopez. He also styled the hair for nine out of the twelve 2009 Vogue Magazine covers. Oribe’s legendary history includes serving as the principle stylist for Gianni Versace’s collections in the 80’s.

Oribe spread his charismatic charm and decades-long editorial styling wisdom with attendees through hands-on sessions throughout the event. The workshop portion focused on using cultural and iconic references and influences to create “Today’s New Blonde Bombshell”.

"I want to give everyone the freedom to develop their own style. I don't want to dictate what they should do; I never want to dictate. Whether they take away what they learn from this gathering and do it in their salon or not, my feeling is, at least they now have the know-how," said Oribe.

April 23-25, 2010 (RALEIGH) - Long time Raleigh salon owners, Jack and Joelle Ray, and their salons’ stylists debuted at The Southern Women’s Show in April. The exhibit which was designed to be a mini-version of their two salons, the award-winning Samuel Cole Salon and Salon Moxie, captured top honors for Best Exhibit. Visitors were treated to a “world class” salon experience, the customer service hallmark of their two salons. Stylists from both salons were on hand to give guests a complimentary mini-updo and product/hair consultation. Each guest received a complimentary gift bag with special offers. Visitors could also register to win prizes consisting of a “Day of Beauty” from Samuel Cole Salon and Salon Moxie and baskets full of Oribe, Bumble and bumble, and Aveda hair care products.

Supporting their on-going commitment to community involvement, Samuel Cole Salon and Salon Moxie also hosted “Dip Your Paws for a Good Cause” benefitting the SPCA of Wake County. For a $1.00 donation guests received a decadent Chocolate Paraffin Hand Treatment.

“It was an absolute joy to meet and greet so many people and introduce them to our salon culture. Visitors loved the chocolate paraffin hand treatment and mini-updos. Wow, was it busy; the services were very popular. Miss North Carolina even stopped by. In addition, we were able to raise over $800 for the SPCA of Wake County. It was fantastic to see our team in top form,” said Joelle Ray.

This intense 3 day advanced styling course is designed to increase technical skills, product knowledge & client education, and further develop the eye. They were challenged to understand the fundamentals of a perfect blow dry and to learn techniques needed to create three popular updos: Ponytail, Chignon, and Double French Twist. Through daily hands-on sessions with multiple models and detailed feedback, they enhanced their technical styling skills and gained creative inspiration from some of the most talented educators that this exciting industry has to offer.
